My approach

Over the course of my career, I have learned on the job from some of the most talented producers, editors, and creatives in the British television industry.

My approach to filmmaking is about building trust. When everyone involved understands the filming process you can create an atmosphere for people to feel comfortable and to be themselves. This is when capturing the unfolding story becomes authentic and natural.

About me

London based, self-shooting Producer/Director, Drone Operator and Edit Producer with 10+ years’ experience directing documentary and factual programmes for major UK and US broadcasters. I am recognised as a safe pair of hands on location and known for always coming back with a story.

Specialising in character-led programmes and sensitive access docs, I have filmed families whose children undergo life changing operations, built trust with apprehensive Roma communities, and embedded with the police on special operations and high-speed chases.

I am an experienced lighting camera operator and visual storyteller. I have seen films through all phases of the production cycle, from development to the edit. I confidently lead teams on location, self-shoot, direct crews and presenters, script, and edit produce films.

Creative and calm under pressure, I have a proven record directing sensitive subject matter, maintaining intimate access, filming in hostile environments, and managing overseas shoots, all while keeping an eye on the unfolding story.

I am Greek / Canadian and an immigrant to the UK where I've become a British citizen. I am fluent in French and conversational in Greek.

My story

I consider myself an outsider, always looking inward. I was born in Greece, immigrated to Canada as an infant where I grew up and was educated. I now live in the UK and I have settled here permanently. I have camped in the Rocky Mountains, explored Greek temples, and the British Isles. However, it has been through my experiences moving to the UK, living overseas and working in TV over the past 15 years which has had the biggest impact on me. These experiences have opened me up to new worlds and different perspectives. They've sparked a lifelong curiosity about people, culture, and history, which I bring to my filmmaking.

I’m a cinema nerd. I completed a BA in film studies and French literature. It’s impossible to say what my favourite film is; however, Francois Truffaut’s film Les Quatre Cent Coups (1958) sparked my interest in filmmaking. I spent a summer at the New York Film Academy, where I made my first short films. For all it's worth, I think I might be among the last people to learn to edit on a Steenbeck editing table.

I set up a 48-hour film festival in my hometown of Edmonton, Alberta. It was a local success and the Edmonton International Film Festival adapted the event into their annual programme.

I moved to London in 2005 to pursue a career in film and television. I got my first runner job shortly after I arrived and haven’t looked back. I’ve settled in the UK with my wife and daughter and call London home.
